Fukui Prefecture has a crab port. This time, we will introduce inns where you can enjoy delicious crab dishes, including our brand name crab “Echizen crab”!
Since the crab fishing ban was lifted on November 6, ryokans that offer special crab dishes have been appearing one after another. This time, we've selected the best hot spring inns. Please enjoy the crabs and the hot springs to the fullest.

📝 What's an Echizen crab?

Crab lovers must know about Echizen crab!
Echizen crabs are stone crabs with yellow tags that are caught in the Fukui Prefectures of Echizen, Mikuni, Tsuruga, and Obama Port in Japan.
The terrain along the Echizen coast, where the fishery is located, is sharp and deep, and the cold of winter tends to have an effect on the seawater.
This harsh environment is perfect for crabs! The fishery is also close to the port, so being able to buy and sell them in superb freshness is also a big advantage.

The inn has set up 3 large tanks to provide live crabs. You can enjoy the crab dishes prepared by the fisherman owner who has been learning at the restaurant.
Hidetake's specialty is “sashimi”. One side of the crab leg is cut off and immersed in ice water, leaving only half of the leg open to create a crispy, dense texture.

In addition, the cooked crab is cooked after the dinner time is calculated in order to provide a hot meal. It's so meticulous to even consider the time it takes for the residual heat to turn! Indemnifying
Grilled crabs can be cooked in a terracotta plate grill because the state of the terracotta plate grill will keep the juicy essence from being lost. I'm impressed by all the details.
There is a wide range of set menus using labeled brand name crab “Echizen Crab” from a reasonable set of 20,000 yen using 1 cup of “Echizen Crab” to a full set using 2 cups of “Echizen Crab”. Please choose the package that suits your needs.

A ryokan that boasts a vast backyard. The recommended item in winter is the “Crab Kaiseki”, which is about two bowls of crab per person, and you can enjoy a sumptuous crab dish for about 30,000 yen.
The crab kaiseki consists of large boiled crabs, grilled crabs, crab hotpot, and congee. The large crabs are firm, and the chef's excellent heat and saltiness are fully utilized to make them delicious and rich. The fish has crispy fibers and is exceptionally tasty.
There are also guest rooms with open-air baths with hot springs, where you can not only cook but also enjoy the hot springs. Let's spend the happiest time in the luxurious guest rooms with open-air hot springs and elaborate crab dishes!
