🤗 Matsue Castle
Address: 1-5 Temple Town, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture
Website: https://www.matsue-castle.jp/
Matsue Castle, "Japan's National Treasure," was built in 1611 and is also known as "Chidori Castle" because of the graceful shape of its eaves in the form of birds spreading their wings. Unlike the usual white castles, it is a castle with a lot of black wooden panels.
Sandwiched between Lake Shinji and Nakaumi, Matsue Castle has been the guardian of the city known as the "Water Capital" since 400 years ago. Matsue Castle is very interesting! It is one of the few castles made of wood rather than concrete, and is the only castle in the Sanin area to have preserved its watchtower, Tenshukaku.
Matsue Shiroyama Park, selected as one of the "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan", is a famous place for cherry blossom viewing. If you go there in spring, you can't miss the beauty of the old town wrapped in cherry blossoms!
🤗 Himeji Castle
Address: 68 Hon-machi, Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture
Website: https://www.himejicastle.jp/
Himeji Castle is known as "Japan's No. 1 Castle" and is highly preserved. It is also known as "White Heron Castle" because of its beautiful white appearance, and has been the setting for many period dramas and movies.
Himeji Castle, built in 1346, most of the surviving buildings were constructed in the early 17th century, and the castle consists of 83 buildings with a highly developed defense system and elaborate guards.
🤗 Matsumoto Castle
Address: 4-1 Marunouchi, Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture
Matsumoto Castle, located in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, was built in the Eisho era and was originally modeled after Fukashiki Castle, making it the oldest surviving five-story, six-story National Treasure Castle in Japan, and a must-see attraction when visiting Matsumoto City.
Matsumoto Castle is called "Crow Castle" by the local people because of the contrasting black and white colors of its main buildings. The city is surrounded by civic parks, and the scenery is picturesque in all seasons: cherry blossoms in spring, red leaves in fall, and snow in winter.
🤗 Inuyama Castle
Address: 65-2, Inuyama Kita Kodeshi, Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture
Website: inuyama-castle.jp
Inuyama Castle, the oldest surviving castle in Japan, is located on a cliff about 40 meters above sea level to the south of the Kiso River, and is a flat mountain castle built between hills and flat land. It is said to have been inspired by the story of Liu Bei's Baidi Castle, hence its nickname "Baidi Castle".
The Inuyama Castle Tenshokaku is rare among all the Tenshokaku in Japan, and the style is the oldest. It is a watchtower-type three-story, four-story, and two-story underground composite tenshokaku, which appears to be three-story on the outside, but has four floors above ground and two floors below ground on the inside. The high-rail hall on the top floor of Inuyama Castle retains the original construction method, and standing on the outer corridor, you can have a panoramic view of the Kiso River.
🤗 Hikone Castle
Address: 1-1 Kaname-cho, Hikone-shi, Shiga Prefecture
Website: http://www.hikoneshi.com/castle/
Hikone Castle, located in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, is a wooden lenguarded hirazan castle, also known as Kaname Castle. It is an important cultural heritage of Japan, and was honored with the designation of the watchtower of the castle, Tenshukaku, as a National Treasure in 1931, the designation of Hikone Castle as a National Special Historic Site of Japan after its revision in 1951, and the designation of Hikone Castle as one of the most important basic national treasures of Japan in 1952.
The seventh of Japan's famous "Eight Views of Lake Biwa", "Tsukimine", refers to the beauty of Hikone Castle under the moonlight. In addition, a mascot, Hikone Meow, or Hikone Meow, was introduced to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Hikone Castle (2007).
