Kirishima Shrine is the largest Shinto shrine in Southern Kyushu and the landmark of Kirishima, which is said to be the most spiritual place in Southern Kyushu. The vermillion-lacquered main hall and the Imperial Palace are really brightly colored and beautiful. Built in the 6th century, Kirishima Jingu is dedicated to Joong-Joong Pestle, the master of Japan's founding myths. The red lacquered beams and pillars and the colorful relief carvings give the shrine a calm atmosphere as if it is supported by mountains on three sides.

🤗 04 Takachiho Peak

Address: 2583-2, Kirishima Taguchi, Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture
Situated at the southern end of the mountain, with terraced rice and tea fields of great beauty, and a russet mountain wall without a single blade of grass from the mountainside, Takachiho Peak, where a star rises in the morning and sets in the west, brings the seven colors of the day. Takachiho Peak is located on the border of Miyazaki and Kagoshima Prefectures, and it was at the top of the peak here that Ryoma pulled out the “Heaven's Reverse Spear” that had been inserted by the god of the sky, Joong-Joong Pestle, and declared in a loud voice to Ryu, “The future of Japan will be guided by me!

🤗 05 Big Wave Pond

Address: Takachiho, Maki-en-cho, New Kirishima City, Kagoshima Island
The famous Big Wave Pond is also located in Kirishima, and the most classic way to enjoy it is to come here in the fall and winter, where you can see the beautiful maple leaves in addition to the hot springs. But in fact, in all seasons, there is a different kind of scenery. The height of the pond is 1,411 meters, and the view from the hiking trail is superb! Overlooking Lake Hoguchi is quite spectacular, the calm beauty of this water ripples, but one can't help but marvel at the ingenuity of nature.

🤗 06 Maruo Waterfall

Address: 2608-5 Kirishima Taguchi, Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture
Upstream of Maruo Falls are Hayashida Onsen and Sulphur Valley Onsen, making it a hot spring waterfall. It is amazing to see this smoky waterfall from far away. The filaments of water jumping outward are also due to the columnar texture formed on the broken wall after the sulfur lava cooled down. At night, when the waterfall is lit up, the light is softened by the water mist and wrapped around the waterfall, which seems to be transformed into a young girl, hiding behind a veil, which is a fascinating sight.
