Try traveling alone, and you may find a wonderful experience you've never had before. Carve freedom into your journey, enjoy your time completely on your own, and embrace the countless possibilities of the unknown with an open mind.
Japan, with its unique style and richness, is also a country to be explored on your own. This selection of 10 places for solo travelers is sure to be a great reference for your next trip!
🤗 Otaru City — Hokkaido's Traveling Music
Of the 47 prefectures in Japan, Hokkaido is undoubtedly the number one destination. Hokkaido is full of charm, with its vast land that represents Japan and its beautiful northern scenery. If you choose Hokkaido, you may find the place you want to travel to.
Among the many cities in Hokkaido, Otaru City is recommended. The famous Otaru Canal supports the vibrant northern land. On both sides of the canal, there are many stores with a unique atmosphere, and the city is bustling with people. It is recommended for those who are traveling in Japan for the first time, and Hokkaido's seafood is also very delicious!

🤗 Shonan — Enjoy the sea view in Kanagawa
The second area I would like to introduce is Kanagawa Prefecture in the Kanto region. Kanagawa, which is home to many tourist attractions such as Yokohama, is full of attractions throughout the year. In spring, we recommend the Shonan area, which is full of history and has an enjoyable atmosphere. Shonan is brightened up by blooming flowers and plants, and what's more, you can enjoy the sea view before summer arrives.
On a beautiful spring day, there is nothing more enjoyable than a leisurely walk in Kamakura. One of the things you can't miss is Kamakura Daibutsu-den Kotokuin, which is very popular as a cherry blossom viewing spot in spring and offers stunning views as far as the eye can see. The Buddha, a symbol of Japan, is a sight to behold against the stunning cherry blossoms.

🤗 Naha and Keiranuma Islands — Spending time in Okinawa
In third place is a one-person trip to Okinawa Prefecture! We especially recommend setting aside a full week for a leisurely trip through Okinawa. First, you can visit the Miraumi Aquarium and then take a bus to Naha.
Just walking around Okinawa is fun enough, but the most recommended option is to take a ferry to the Keiryu Islands, which are about an hour away. It's the perfect time of year when the temperature rises in spring, and you can enjoy the beautiful sea called “Keiranuma Blue”. The people on the island are very gentle, and the izakaya (Japanese-style pubs) here are very good!

🤗 Atami City — Enjoy a premier vacation destination in Shizuoka!
In fourth place is “Shizuoka Prefecture”, which is famous for tea culture, an important culture in Japan. And when it comes to this area, the best thing to see is Mount Fuji. Situated at the foot of Mt. Fuji, Shizuoka Prefecture is a stunning place that you must visit once in a lifetime.
Atami City is the first city in Shizuoka Prefecture that I would like to recommend. Atami City is one of the most popular vacation spots in Japan, and it's also a great place for a one-person trip. Hatsushima Island in particular is perfect for girls who are trying to travel to an island for the first time. In spring, you can see the beauty of hundreds of flowers blooming, and it is also a charming place for a day trip.

🤗 Fukuoka City — Taste the best of Fukuoka
Fukuoka Prefecture, ranked fifth, is located in the Kyushu region, which has become popular as a travel destination in recent years, and Fukuoka is a favorite city for travelers. Although it is a city, it is a lively city with a warm atmosphere without the hustle and bustle of Tokyo.
The most recommended area in Fukuoka is still Nakasu. There are singers playing in front of the station and people spending time leisurely by the river. Eating ramen noodles at a street stall and chatting with the shopkeeper is the most ordinary and healing time. Even though you are in the city, you can feel the warmth that dives into your heart.

🤗 Bandai Mountain — Experience nature, history and Fukushima
Fukushima Prefecture, with its rich resources such as delicious rice, high quality local vegetables and seafood that support the Japanese food culture, and its history and natural beauty, is introduced next. Fukushima Prefecture has its own unique charm, whether it is near the sea or inland, and not to mention the food, but also the beautiful scenery, which is perfect for a one-person trip.
The symbol of Fukushima Prefecture is Mount Bandai. In Aizuwakamatsu, you can enjoy a historical walk with a view of Mt. Bandai, surrounded by the atmosphere of the town.
One of the most recommended spots is the “Goshikinuma Lakes and Swamps” on Mount Bandai. The colors of the lakes change depending on the season, so you can catch a glimpse of the beauty of the lakes in the winter and spring.

🤗 Kyoto City — Taste of Cultural Kyoto
Kyoto still retains a strong color of traditional Japanese culture and is full of popularity among overseas tourists. Numerous temples and vintage streets are filled with beautiful maiko walking among them.
You can feel the atmosphere of Kyoto even more in a small town. We recommend “Funaoka Onsen”, a retro-style hot spring, and a café converted from a house to those who want to experience Kyoto in a deeper way. In the spring when cherry blossoms are in bloom, Kyoto becomes more and more beautiful with its old-fashioned atmosphere.

A highly recommended attraction in Hiroshima is Itsukushima Shrine! Take a boat to Itsukushima Shrine and explore the shrine itself and the peaceful mountain paths that will surely heal you!

🤗 Tokushima/Kagawa/Ehime/Kochi — Touring Shikoku and Shikoku Prefectures
In ninth place is “Shikoku 4 Prefectures”. When traveling to Shikoku, rather than recommending a particular prefecture, the best way is to visit all four! Each prefecture has its own unique charms that can be explored one by one, and the close proximity of the prefectures to each other makes it possible to travel efficiently.
If you visit Shikoku, you'll be fascinated by the people of the prefecture who are full of character. The most authentic udon noodles must be eaten in Kagawa! The Dogo Hot Spring in Ehime is also highly recommended!

Last but not least, we would like to introduce Kagoshima Prefecture in Kyushu, and Yakushima is the most recommended island. Yakushima is about 3 hours by ferry from Kagoshima, and Jomon cedar stands in the center of the island. Yakushima is perfect for hiking alone.
Seriously face yourself and discover yourself during long walks. No matter where you are on the island, you can restore your spirit in the embrace of nature.
